ETITIA ANN WOODS:
The announcement of her death in the Anniston Newspaper spells her name as Latecia Wooten. She died at 12:30 Friday, Dec 6, 1940. She was buried at 2 o'clock at Mt Zion Baptist Church in Alexandria, Alabama. She was 85. She had been visiting her son Walter Cowens Wooten of Decatur. The Rev. L. D. Doss preached her funeral. Usrey Funeral Home was the directors of the funeral. At the time of her death she was survived by her twin sons Walter Cowens Wooten and William Halbert Wooten and Emma D Simpson of Greenville South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband John Franklin Wooten of Alexandria, Alabama and she was buried next to him. She was preceded in death by her daughter Katie Gertrude who died november 31, 1918 in the great flue epedimic of Alabama. Her son J.B. Wooten also preceded her in death. J. B. was killed in the fierce battle at Chataeau Thierry in France on July 26, 1918. His grave is at the foot of his mother and father. Her son James Joseph Wooten died 1-19-1924 and preceded his mother in death as well. He was killed by a train in Gadsden. Her son Walter Cowens Wooten claims his mother was a full blooded indian.
