Notes for Hazel Connick: Hazel 'Connie' Helgeson Hazel "Connie" Helgeson, 90, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999. She was a much loved mother, grandmother and friend. Hazel Irene Connick was born on Sept. 15, 1909, to George and Christine Connick in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was raised on the family farm. She attended nurses training at Havre, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1932. Nurse Connick worked at the Havre, Glasgow and Fort Belknap hospitals as a surgical nurse and also did private duty nursing. She volunteered many years at the bloodmobile. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Glendive. Connie married Victor Helgeson on Oct. 7, 1936, in Great Falls. They lived in Baker, Cabin Creek and Saco before moving to Glendive in 1947. In addition to her husband, who passed away in 1987, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Survivors include three daughters, Janice Sand and Mary Beth Helgeson of Billings, Mrs. Verlin (Diana) Koenig, Glasgow; three sons, Thomas and wife, Linda, Richard and wife, Mary, and Stan and wife, Mary Jane, all of Billings; one brother, Wesley Connick of Munester, Saskatchewan; 12 grandchildren, Thor Sand, Krista and Brian Murphy; Tera and Mike Bender, Jason Surratt, Megan Helgeson; Josh, Chris, and Matthew Helgeson; Camrin Koenig, Nancy and Greg Senitte; Ryan and Kara Helgeson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the First United Methodist Church in Billings with burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, in Dawson County Cemetery, Glendive. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice
