Maria Christina Anderson remembers:
They lived on a farm near Karlsdad, Varmland, Sweden. They used to
row across the lake on Sunday mornings to go to church. It was a
large boat (similar to a whale boat) seating 4 across. They wore the
very traditional costumes.

Winters were SO cold in Sweden that they would wear the same
clothes all winter long and in the spring, they would wash them out
in the streams or lake.
