I am researching my ancestors who were in Davenport,Iowa and nearby from 1850-present:FEENEY, JORDAN, COLLINS, BAUGH, JACOBS, CROUCH/KRAUTZ, DRAKE, CROSEN/CROSSON/CROSSEN, FITZGERALD, HAASE, GALLAGHER, and KINNEY. FEENEY and CROSSEN married in Davenport in the 1950's. Some other families we are related to include OFFERMAN, who reportedly bought Credit Island from the Indians and later sold it; BOETKE, who is famous for their mustard; STEINER and POWERS who married HAASE girls. Beyond Davenport, my research extends to immigrant ancestors from the mid-1800's, including: FEENEY, JORDAN, CROSEN, GALLAGHER, and KINNEY from Ireland; HAASE from Germany; and DRAKE from Canada. St. Charles, Missouri, settlers from the early 1800's: COLLINS, BARRY, BAILEY/BAYLEY, SACHWELL, BAUGH, ASHBROOKE, BALDRIDGE, and ZUMWALT from Virginia, N.C. and Kentucky. Those who were in Illinois and Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, in the late 1700's and early 1800's: JACOBS, FITZGERALD, CROUCH/KRAUTZ, and VANDEVENTER. The Irish and English ancestors who were in Virginia and North Carolina, from Colonial times until they moved to Missouri at the turn of the 19th century: BALDRIDGE, FRUIT, HOLMES, CLARK, BAUGH, ASHBROOKE, COLEMAN. BAILEY/BAYLEY, who came from England to New England in the late 1700's. My mostly Dutch ancestors, who came to Long Island, New York and Pennsylvania, during the Colonial period: VANDEVENTER, MILLER, COVENHOVEN/VANKOUVWENHOVEN, VAN DOREN, SCHENCK, COOL, JANS, MONFORT, WYCKHOFF. And finally, I am starting to research the ancestors of my daughter, which includes CONTE/CONTI from New York and Italy, DAVIS from England, BROYLES from Pennsylvania and Tennessee; of my son, which includes CLEARY and COFFEY from Massachusetts and Ireland; KEOGH and TIERNEY from Vermont and Massachusetts; and of my granddaughter, which includes VILLAGRAN from Guatamala. |
