vi.   George Washington (Junior) Blanton II, born December 26, 1923; died January 19, 1975; married Betty Segraves; born April 19, 1927.
Notes for George Washington (Junior) Blanton II:
When Ben Blanton was drafted into the United States Army, brothers Charlie, Sandford, and Junior volunteered for the U.S. Navy. Junior served in the Pacific for the duration of the war. He was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Hornet. Uncle Junior also served as a Johnson County Magistrate. Uncle Junior was a heavy smoker. He was said to have kept a pack of Winstons in one shirt pocket and a pack of Kools in the other. Junior was a small man and the cigarettes apparently took their toll as Uncle Junior died while still a young man. He had lung cancer. An odd occurrence was that Uncle Sanford's 2nd wife, Lois, gave up much of her personal life to help Aunt Betty take care of Uncle Junior. Lois died on January 3rd of 1975, 18 days before Uncle Junior. Aunt Betty is still alive and seems to be ageless. She served as my baby sitter many times as a young boy and while I wasn't fond of her strict discipline, she was was an excellent person and a fine teacher of principles.
