Notes for JOHN RICE:
John Rice immigrated from Dover, England to Roanoke, Virginia shortly after the Revolutionary War. According to family legend, he was massacred in an Indian raid on Roanoke in the late 1700's. Also according to family legend, he was married to a Patsy Fleming. She is buried on the old John Rice (his son) farm at Riceville, Kentucky. His children by Patsy were Martin, Fanny and John. He also had a son, Samuel by an unknown woman.
