1. THOMAS1 WITTEN was born Abt. 1630 in Barbados. He married MARY BULKELEY December 31, 1656 in Christ Chruch, Barbados, daughter of WILLIAM BULKELEY.

Barbados is in the British West Indies about 270 miles northeast of Venezuela. In 1642/25 John Powell led an expedition to the island. In 1627, John's younger brother Captain Henry Powell brought a party of English settlers to colonize Barbados for it's sugar resources. As Thomas Witten was born just 2 1/2 to 3 years from the formation of this settlement one would have to assume that Thomas's parents were among this first group of settlers to the island.
