9. WILLIAM⁵ WITTEN (JAMES⁴, THOMAS JEFFERSON³, THOMAS², THOMAS¹) was born 1791 in Virginia. He married LOCKEY HACKWORTH October 24, 1819 in Floyd County, Kentucky. She was born 1800 in Virginia.

Notes for WILLIAM WITTEN:
William Witten was known under the title of Doctor. It is known that he was a graduate of William and Mary's College. There is speculation that he was a medical doctor but the consensus of thought is that he was a Doctor of Theology. William settled on the Rush Fork of Tom's Creek in present day Johnson Co., Kentucky.

Notes for FRANK WITTEN:
Frank was a soldier in the Union Army during the Civil War. Frank was killed at the battle of Kennesaw Mountain were he fought with his brother George Hamilton. He is buried in Knoxville, Tennessee.
