HRISTOPHER CHANDLER:
Chandler is a variation of the surname Chaundeler, derived from the French meaning "candlemaker."
As per the book Chandler Record of the Descendants of George and Jane Chandler, who Emigrated to Pennsylvania from Wiltshire, England, in 1687, with a pedigree of Chandlers of Oare, Wiltshire, 1937 (762 pages), Christopher Chandler 1st married Prudence Grubb and then married Phebe Kirk. Most of the early Chandlers found in this book are Quaker.
Prudence died bef. 1774 because Christopher Chandler married his 2nd wife Phebe Kirk on 14 December 1774. A will written by Prudence's brother, Samuel Grubb in 1777 lists her as deceased.
As per an unknown source, two of Christopher's sons, Samuel and Caleb migrated to Rockingham County, Va. It appears to me that Samuel and Caleb were half-brothers, not brothers. Samuel was the son of Christopher Chandler and his 1st wife Prudence Grubb and Caleb was the son of Christopher Chandler and his 2nd wife Phebe Kirk.
This is presumed to be Christopher below in the 1800 census, presumably with his 2nd wife Phoebe Kirk. He is deceased by the time the 1810 census ia taken.

1800 Christiana, New Castle County, Delaware, p. 157 [handwritten]
Christopher Chandler 1 male [under 10, possibly Hiram], 1 male [10-15, possibly David], 1 male [45+, presumably himself], 1 female [10-15, unknown female], 1 female [45+, presumably Phoebe Kirk]

RUDENCE GRUBB:
As per http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/DENEWCAS/2003-01/1043783382, Prudence married Christopher Chandler in 1769. Prudence and Christopher may have had more children than the two I have listed for them [Samuel and Tamar].

[NewCastle] Quaker Marriages, NCC, Part 2
"Christopher CHANDLER, son of Swithin and ANN of Christiana Hd., NCC, yeoman, and Prudence GRUBB, daughter of Samuel, late of Chester Co., dec'd. 27-12-1769" [marriage date].

Since Samuel is said to have married his 2nd wife Phebe Kirk on 14 December 1774, Prudence probably died bef. 1774. Prudence is listed as deceased as per a will written by Prudence's brother, Samuel Grubb on 1 August 1777 and proven 25 July 1782.

An abstract of Samuel Grubb's will is found at http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/chester/wills/wills1782-3.txt.

Children of C
HRISTOPHER CHANDLER and PRUDENCE GRUBB are:
2. i.   SAMUEL2 CHANDLER, b. 21 Mar 1771, Pa.; d. 13 Aug 1820, Presumed Rockingham County, Va..
  ii.   TAMAR CHANDLER, b. 28 Feb 1774; d. Sep 1858; m. ABNER WILSON.
  Notes for TAMAR CHANDLER:
Tamar's birthdate is listed as 29 February 1774 in the Chandler book [1937]. However, 1774 was not a leap year, and the maximum possible days in February for that year is 28.
The Chandler book states that Tamar married Abner Wilson.

  Notes for ABNER WILSON:
Abner could not be located in the 1850 census.

Children of CHRISTOPHER CHANDLER and PHOEBE KIRK are:
  iii.   CALEB2 CHANDLER, b. 11 Jan 1776; d. 1810, Greenbriar, Va.; m. MARY SPANGLER, 20 Jan 1801, Rockingham County, Va..
  Notes for CALEB CHANDLER:
As per a random newspaper clipping [undated], possibly about 1970 or 1980.....
"CHANDLER. Seeking descendants of the family le Chaundeler de l'Aigle, Normandy to help update the family history. Brothers Samuel & Caleb Chandler migrated to the Shenandoah Valley in the late 1700's." Samuel and Caleb are presumed to have been half-brothers, not brothers.
Caleb Chandler's exact birth and death dates and death location are found in the Chandler book [1937].
A marriage record shows that Caleb Chandler married Mary Spangler, daughter of Charles in 1801 in Rockingham County, Va. However, Caleb and his wife cannot be found in Rockingham County, Va. in 1810. The only Chandler found in Rockingham County, Va. in 1810 is Samuel Chandler.
The Chandler book lists Caleb's death location as Green Briar, Va. There is a Greenbriar in Fairfax County, Va. and Greenbriar in Chesterfield County, Va. The one in Fairfax County is near Manassas. There is also a Greenbrier County, West Va.
I find a Caleb Chandler in Shenandoah County, Va. in 1840, 1850, and 1860, although that Caleb is far from the correct age, being at least a full generation off. That Caleb, found in Shenandoah County, Va. was born abt. 1808. Note that he is married to an Elizabeth, not a Mary. This is the only Caleb Chandler that I can find in the early census records. I include Caleb [b. abt. 1808] here in case a connection to this line is found at some future date.

  Notes for MARY SPANGLER:
According to the Male Index to Marriage Registers, Rockingham County, Virginia--From 1778, Mary Spangler married Caleb Chandler in 1801.
According to Rockingham County Marriages, 1778-1850 by John Vogt & T. William Kethley, Jr., Iberian Publishing Company, Athen, Georgia, 1984 (p. 65), Mary Spangler, daughter of Charles, married Calib Chandler on 20 January 1801. Bond Frederick Spangler. Minister John Walsh.

I find no further record of Jehu Chandler.

  viii.   DAVID CHANDLER, b. 11 Oct 1790; d. 28 Aug 1820.
  Notes for DAVID CHANDLER:
Birth and death dates for David are found in the Chandler book [1937].
David would be abt. 10 years old in 1800 and is probably still living in his father Christopher's household.

  ix.   HIRAM CHANDLER, b. 24 May 1793; d. 29 Nov 1799.
  Notes for HIRAM CHANDLER:
Birth and death dates for Hiram are found in the Chandler book [1937].
