Jesse Dempsey, administrator of the estate of Barnett Dempsey, deceased, appeared before the Ordinary for the purpose of settling the estate of said deceased. John Dempsey, Lazarous Dempsey and Winney Dempsey, widow of the deceased, sent from under their hands in writing that they would abide by a settlement that this day may be made between the Ordinary and said administrator. Also William Wilson, William Medford and Levi Dempsey, being the remainder of the legatees of the deceased in this
state also appeared who were ready for settlement and on examining the proceedings of the said administrator find it to stand thus . . .

Thomas Cave sold 282 acres of land to William Jones. This time it was bordered by Barnet Dempsey, William Hughes, __________ Jones and John Cargill. This would indicate that James Wood had sold his land, that bordered John Dempsey, to William Hughes. This deed was witnessed on 16 Dec 1825.

William Jones sold the same 282 acres to Henry Wade. The land is bordered by John Cargell, Lewis Jones, William Hughes, Lucy Dempsey, James Wilson and Joseph Hughes. The deed was witnessed on 16 Dec 1825. (James Wilson and Lucy Dempsey seem to have acquired Barnet Dempsey's land. Levi Dempsey and Charity, his wife, of De Kalb County, GA, sold 190 acres of land

  Notes for Charity:
William W. Selman and Charity Dempsey were appointed administrators of Levi's estate. James T. Wood and Larkin Bailes were security on the bond posted by the administrators. At the Jul 1841 court session, John Murphy and William L. Morgan (Levi's minor children's guardians) stated that Mr. Selman was "in very embarassing pecuniary circumstances and likely to become insolvent, if indeed not already so, and that he is mismanaging the estate" and asked to be released from their bond. Mr. Selman was ordered to appear at the next court session, but there is no record of his appearance until Jan 1843, when he was discharged. However, ten months after his discharge, Mr. Selman sold land in DeKalb County belonging to the estate of Levi Dempsey.

Obituary of Joseph Endsley:
On the 21st day of December, 1882 after a few days illness JOSEPH ENDSLEY.
The deceased was born in Laurens District, South Carolina, December 22nd 1799. Had he lived one day longer he would have celebrated his eighty-third birthday.
He was married to Ellen C. Neill in 1824. In 1835 he and his wife joined the Baptist Church in which he ever remained an exemplary member. In the year 1859 he moved with his family to Cass Co., Texas, where he remained until the day of his death.
It would be impossible in a notice like this to give a correct portrayal of the rare virtues that were so happily blended in the character of the deceased friend of whom I write. Though his were lengthened beyond the years usually alloted to man. Yet his neighbors and friends were both part from one who had been such a safe councillor, as sincere a Christian and one who was always in full sympathy with his fellow men in their effort do do right.
The deceased leaves a wife – his faithful and trusted companion for next sixty years – and seven children, all of whom gladdened the father’s heart by openly espousing the cause of Christ – to mourn his loss. The reflection should be to them a happy one that, the father for whom they mourn had the full confidence and respect of all who knew him, it being a common remark that he did not have an enemy. Great as was the life, in Christian virtues of our departed friend, yet it was reserved until his last days for him to exemplify a perfect trust in that God whom he served. May his mantle fall to some of the young.
An aged and only surviving brother of the deceased that was present at his death said that mournful as was death, yet he found comfort in the thought that precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. J.W.H.

Child of Joseph Endsley and Ellender Neill is:
