Notes for Thomas Collier:
Thomas Collier (Coluer) on Oct. 31, 1643, acknowledged a debt to John Flowers of 4000 lbs. tobacco to be paid each year beginning Oct 31, 1643 (Surry Co deed Bk 1, p. 112, Recorded 1657). His presence in Surry Co. suggests his parentage of John Collier, but I have found no proof of this as yet. In Hotten's List of Original Persons of Quality, there is a Thomas Colley who emigrated to VA in 1623. He is found on the 1624 census of Jamestown, VA. It is possible that the name was "shortened" by the person who recorded it.

Notes for Dirck Holgerson:
Dirck left Norway where he was born and emigrated to Hoorn Holland in 1621. There he married Christine Vigne and they moved to New Amsterdam.

  Notes for Christina Vigne:
Christine or Christina along with her parents escaped from France to Holland because of religious persecution of the Huguenots in France.

Dirck Volckertszen married Christine Vigne in 1630 or 1631. She was the daughter of Guillaume [Guleyn] Vigne and Adrienne Cuvelier. In France, a cuvelier was a barrel-maker. The name Vigne means "vine" in French, and is most often associated with vineyards for making wine. Vigne is pronounced VIN-YEH , with neither syllable accented.

Christine, sometimes called Christina, was born about 1610-1613. This would have made her somewhere between ten and fourteen years old when she arrived in America. Little has been written about her, other than that she married Dirck in 1630 or 1631. Dirck and Christine lived in her parents' household until 1638. She was a sponsor in baptisms at the Dutch Reformed Church in 1643 and 1650. The rest of her story must be inferred from what we know about her husband and children. Her last child, Jennekin, was born in 1653. There was no further record of her after 1663, although she may have lived into the 1670's.
