2. DANIEL² KEISTER (JOHN¹) was born April 26, 1811 in Herdlis Twp., Union, PA, and died January 13, 1853 in Huntingdon, PA Of a broken heart. He married MATILDA GRAFFIAS June 16, 1831, daughter of MARTIN GRAFFIAS and MARGARET MCGUIRE. She was born August 12, 1812 in Henderson Twp., Union, PA, and died June 01, 1852 in Huntingdon, PA.

On the original Birth and Baptism Document of Daniel it says the following:

To these two parents, John (Johanne 'squiggle' Kester and his lawful wife Catherine, born a Shuben, is born a son into the world, the 26 day of April, in the year of our Lord 1811. This child was born in Hendle Township, Union County, Pensylvania, North America and received in holy baptism the name Daniel by the pastor. H. Fries.

The baptism witnesses were the parents.

ON DANIEL'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE HIS PARRENTS ARE WRITTEN DOWN AS....JOHANNE ( middel initial looks like a squgiggel) KEITER (or) KISTER, and CATHARINE born a SHUBEN (NOTE)>>>
The old german script and shakey hand writing on the birth certificate arehard to read...and we dont know how well the pastor who wrote it could spell. We can , however confirm that the certificate is in fact the birth certificate of Daniel Keister, the father of William Andrew Keister.
We know how he spelled his name and how he pronounced it.. (key-ster).

The Twins died not too long after their birth. Lydia died on 10 May 1852,their mother Matilda died on 1 June 1852, Levi died on 12 Aug. 1852....Daniel Keister died of a broken heart on 13 January, 1853. The records say the twins and mother died of blood poisoning, but with the multiple occurances of early, and late onset diabetis in the family this is now belived to be the cause of death.

4-31 (3-6) Matilda Graffius 1813 - 1852
Daughter of Martin and Margaret was born on August 12, 1813 at Henderson
Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. On the16th of June she
became the bride of Daniel Keister. In the family Bible was a birth
certificate written in German and in translation reads: To these two
parents, John Keister and his wife Catherine, born SHUBEN is born a son
into the world, the 26 day of April year of l811. This child was born
in Herdli Township, Union County, Pennsylvania, N.A., and received in
holy baptism the name Daniel by the pastor. H. Fries.
Matilda and Daniel were married on the 16th of June in 1832. Their
children were Jane (5-101), Simon (5-102), Angeline H (5-1O3), Catherine
Arnn E. (5-104), Margaret (5-105), William (5-106), Alice Amanda
(5-107), Caroline (5-108), Levi and Lydia twins who were born May 8,
1852 and died; Lydia on May 10, 1852, their mother on June 1, of blood
poisoning, Levi on August 12, and their father, Daniel died on 13th of
January, 1853 of a broken heart
