Charles and Dorothy bought a Motel in Guernsey, Wyoming. It was called "The Trail Motel" and located right across the highway from "Crazy Tony's". She spent at least ten years there raising four children, cleaning motel rooms, doing laundry for the motel, and being a motel manager. During this time Charles lived and worked in Lusk, Wyoming as a bartender for, first Barney Miller and then Leta Bishop. Charles would come home on weekends to help Dorothy with the Motel Business.
A few years approximately 1962-1966 Dorothy took a job with the Federal Government as Acting Postmaster of Guernsey, Wyoming. When it came time for appointing a postmaster for this position the appointment went to one that never worked in the Post Office. After this new appointment Dorothy and Chuck decided to lease the motel out and move to Denver Colorado where Dorothy found a job working for the State of Colorado, first in the Department of Employment and then moved on to Services for the Aging where she worked for ten years and then retired.
