On the original Birth and Baptism Document of Daniel it says the following:
To these two parents, John (Johanne 'squiggle') Kester and his lawful wife Catherine, born a Shuben, is born a son into the world, the 26 day of April, in the year of our Lord 1811. This child was born in Hendle Township, Union County, Pennsylvania, North America and received in holy baptism the name Daniel by the pastor. H. Fries.
The baptism witnesses were the parents.
This original document is in the hands of Carol Cooper at this time.
From Larry Keister's e-mail dated 5/14/00:
ON DANIEL'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE HIS PARENTS ARE WRITTEN DOWN AS....JOHANNE ( Middle initial looks like a squiggle) KEITER (or) KISTER, and CATHARINE born a SHUBEN (NOTE)>>> The old German script and shaky hand writing on the birth certificate are hard to read...and we don't know how well the pastor who wrote it could spell. We can , however confirm that the certificate is in fact the birth certificate of Daniel Keister, the father of William Andrew Keister. We know how he spelled his name and how he pronounced it.. (key-ster).
Per Larry Keister's e-mail dated 5/14/00:
The Twins died not too long after their birth. Lydia died on 10 May 1852,their mother Matilda died on 1 June 1852, Levi died on 12 Aug. 1852....Daniel Keister died of a broken heart on 13 January, 1853. The records say the twins and mother died of blood poisoning, but with the multiple occurrences of early, and late onset diabetics in the family this is now believed to be the cause of death.
