Nancy Isabelle, the daughter of the late John C. F. and Anna Logan McLean, was born November 3, 1877, in Waubaunsee County, Kansas.
She was married to George Earl Morgan in Pittsburgh, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Elizabeth, Eugene and Mary. Mr. Morgan died in March 1902.
The pioneer McLean and Morgan families moved to Roundup in July, 1915, and from the time of their arrival, through the many colorful years of this new western country, they have had a great part in the development and progress of all activities, always standing for the highest moral principles.
On December 24, 1926, Mrs. Belle Morgan was married to Val Bailey, and they continued to maintain their home in Roundup, where Mr. Bailey was connected with the Roundup Coal Mining Company.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Endeavor Rebekah Lodge No. 71 and served as noble grand in 1930. She was a member of Jewel Chapter O.E.S. No. 48 of Roundup, serving in many capacities. She was county chairman of roundup Red Cross for many years and under her direction much was accomplished by this organization. She served on the Roundup public school board and she was vitally interested in the youth and all educational matters.
She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and served as president of the Roundup unit in 1946-47. She established the first maternity home in Roundup and no task or responsibility was too arduous for her to undertake as she ceaselessly toiled for the good of humanity.
Her membership and assistance to the Roundup Mother's club will always be remembered.
Mrs. Bailey held membership in the Christian Church of Pittsburgh, Kansas.
Survivors include Val H. Bailey of Roundup; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Matthews, Kinsman, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary Evans, Billings; one son T. E. Morgan, Great Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Hannah Gesslein, Mulberry, Kan., Mrs. Ella Nipson, Greenville, South Carolina, and Mrs. Agnes Welsh, Birmingham Alabama; and one brother, John C. Mclean of Roundup; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
It is a noteworthy fact that five generations of this pioneer family had planned a reunion, but the passing of Mrs. Bailey's father, John C. F. McLean, on October 30, 1918 right after his 93rd birthday anniversary on August 8, was a break in the family.
