Following is the descendency for Adam Chambers (ca 1765-1801)of Newberry, South Carolina. Adam's place of birth and parents are unknown to me at this time, though there is some indication that these Chambers originated from Ireland.

The Chambers were closely associated with the Dugans and McCrackens of Newberry, South Carolina. Other Chambers/Chalmers appearing in early census data near Adam Chambers in Newberry were William and Alexander Chambers. However, no relationships between Adam and these other Chambers have been proven.

At least three of Adam's children (Samuel, William, and Maxfield) and his widow, Martha, migrated to Greene and Pickens counties, Alabama circa 1818. I am descended directly from Adam's son Maxfield Chambers, who moved in the 1830s across the Pickens County line to Noxubee County, Mississippi where he died. Unfortunately, the records for Pickens County, Alabama were destroyed, so some aspects of these Chambers' lives remain a mystery to me.

I am looking for information regarding two other families that lived in Pickens County and then Noxubee County. There is strong evidence that these families were related to my Chambers. The first is James Davidson and wife Martha Stuart/Stewart. The second is James A. Gammill who married widow Martha Ann Jetton. Please contact me if you have any information on these people.
