1. HENDRICK EPKE⁴ BANTA (EPKES³ JACBOSE, JACOB² EPKESZ, EPKE¹ LUUESE) was born Abt. 1655 in Minnertsga, Holland, and died Abt. 1740 in Bergen (or Somerset) Co New Jersey. He married (1) ANGENITIE HENDRICKS, daughter of THEUNIS HENDRICKS and GRIETJE SAMULS. She was born Abt. 1674 in Mellep, Drenthe, Holland. He married (2) MARITJE LUBBERTSE WESTERVELT.

Notes for HENDRICK EPKE BANTA:
Hendrick apparently lived at Hackensack, New Jessey most of his life, at least following his marriage to Westervelt. He was Deacon and later an Elder of his church ( Dutch Reformed Church). He owned land at various times along the Hacksack River, and one tract between Overpeck Creek and the Hudson River.
His first wife Maritje Lubberstse Westervelt apparently came from a family Lubbert which could be traced back for many generations in Holland. She came to America at the age of 8, arriving 5/24/1662 at New Amsterdam. Her father was named Lubberstse, was a farmer in Holland However since the line comes down through the second wife the Lubbert line not included. It was a custom in the Dutch Reform Church that called for a wait of nine years after the death of a wi9fe before re-marriage.
