Find Family
This is a revised listing of Cook Family Ancestry formerly listed as Cook Family in Texas. While through female lines the later generations have "good" Irish roots to both the Dublin and Belfast areas and are related to royalty of Europe, I have omitted listing these lines. The primary linage provided is from James Cook of New Jersey and his grandfather, Abraham Cook of New York to present generations. I have been able to carefully document the ancestry of current generations to Stephen Cook, b. 1751 but have not secured what I consider "legal" proof of the parentage of Stephen Cook. In my research I have found that James Cook served in the New Jersey Assembly in 1835.(I had the opportunity in July 2003 to review in person the minutes of the assembly in the Trenton, New Jersey archives. It was interesting to see the issues the legislature was dealing with in the early 1800's) Ann Mills, wife of James Cook was a decendant of John Alden of the Mayflower. [My youngest daughter has achieved her certificate of documented lineage from the Alden Kindred of America.] Lewis Cook the son of James Cook married Phoebe A. Dowling, daughter of Thomas Dowling, a prominent newspaper publisher and printer in Indiana who also served several terms in the Indiana Legislature. Thomas Dowling was also the last Trustee of the Walbash and Erie Canel Company selling off its assets after its collapse.

I continue to research Stephens Cook b. 1751, d. 1844 and Abraham Cook born abt. 1715 Southhampton, LI, NY married Sibyl Burnet in 1740. Your comments and information submission are appreciated.
