Hi Ya'll! Welcome to my family research home page. My name is Laura DeLane (Baker)Cooper. The four main lines I am trying to follow at this time are: FIELDS: James FIELDS m. Ella KINARD and they lived in the Bamberg/ Ehrhardt South Carolina area. I need information about this couple (dates, where are they buried?). Their children where born circa 1860. One of their children was my GGrandfather: Charles Cornelius Fields. He moved from Bamberg, SC to Odum, GA. James married also a Mary Chassereau.
MCLAIN/MCCLANE/MCLEAN Hugh McLain married Flora Wilkes. This family is listed in the Emanuel County, Georgia 1860 census with children Mary, Margaret, Sarah, Peter and another Mary. Hugh was listed as 65 years old, from North Carolina and occupation: carpenter. Flora is listed as 50 years old. Flora is the daughter of Elijah Wilkes of North Carolina. Children Peter and Mary married Edenfield brother and sister Jasper (Jack) and Eliza. I have a family tree from a book in the Wayne County, GA library that shows Hugh and either a brother, uncle, or father being from Scotland. Where is Hugh from in North Carolina? Who were his parents? Was he born in North Carolina or Scotland?
OGDEN: Next, it is rumored that Elijah OGDEN was a Methodist Circuit Preacher in South Georgia. He lived in the Appling Co. (Holmesville) area and married Jane Reddish. Elijah was born abt. 1800. He had some interesting sons, 4 served in the CSA during the War Between the States. There are several theories about the family of Elijah. One is that he is of the family of Daniel Ogden and Mary Sapp. There is some evidence to support this theory. Family rumors have Elijah with a brother - Isaac. This family has an Isaac, Elijah and Dicey Jane - another rumored sibling (sister) of Elijah. Can anyone shed any light on this family?
LANDON: Last, Mack LANDON, father of David Lawton LANDON. Who was he? He was born in 1847 and is buried in Wayne county Georgia. My grandmother says his wife's name was Mary. As a girl I would sit around the dinner table at my Mema's house and listen to the stories about my family. Some of these are no doubt true, as others are not. When my husband Steve and I started our own family, I wanted an accurate history to give my children. These "hunting" trips have made me feel like a girl named "Nancy Drew".
Here are some surnames in my family: BAKER, BEST, EDENFIELD, FIELDS, KINARD, LANDON, MCGAULEY, MCLAIN, OGDEN, REDDISH.
Here are some surnames in Steve's family: COOPER, DEKLE, HORNE, KEPLINGER, LECKER, MAY, MCGRAW, PEOPLES, RUBLE, SMITH.
The Internetree below is mislabeled. It actually belongs to Steve's Family. How do you fix this???
