| Matthew Sparks, born abt. 1730 and died 1793 married Sarah Thompson, born abt. 1732 and died 1831. One of his sons, John Sparks, born in 1755 in North Carolina, married Mary Parmely. Their children were Robert, Samuel, Enoch, Rebecca, Elizabeth and William. He died in February 1831 and was buried in Sparks Cemetery in Franklin Co. AL. William was born May 1, 1782 in Spartenburg, South Carolina. His family came to Franklin County Alabama in a caravan in the 1800's. The Sparks family settled near Frankfort. He applied for bouty land. In 1850 he received a tract and another in 1855 near Frankfort. He gave land for Sparks Cemetery where he is buried along with several other family members. Riley Sparks was born October 22, 1811 in Spartenburg District, South Carolina. He died January 29, 1892 in Franklin Co. His son Christiopher was my great-great grandfather.
