He married LORENA VAN DORN on December 23, 1922 in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, daughter of DOUGLAS VAN DORN and LOU ACIE HEATHCOCK.

BENTON RUSSELL STARKEY

Benton R. Starkey, 88, a resident of Sweetwater since 1922, died at 9:20 a.m.Sunday at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fundamental Baptist Church in Brownwood, 2001 14th St. burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetary, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

He was born May 29, 1888, in Brownwood and married Irene Smith November 23, 1922, in San Antonio. He was a salesman for Findalater Hardware Co. of San Angelo. He was a World War I Veteran.

Survivors includes his wife; a sister, Mrs. Frank McGauehey of Engleside and two brothers, R.Y. Starkey and Jessee Starkey both of Bangs.
