Notes for ITASCA CARR: Itaska Carr Butler is the daughter of James Carr and Lammie Belle Van Dorn Carr. She is the grandaughter of Gen. Earl Van Dorn. Itaska was born in Wilson Co. in the town of Stockdale in 1878 and is 2 years old in the 1880 census. Her parents moved to Cotulla Tx. in LaSalle Co. sometime after that since it seems that she grew up in Cotulla.
The death notice for Itasca Butler was published on June 9, 1964 on page 2 of the Laredo Morning Times. It reads as follows: Mrs. Butler Dies: Rites Wednesday Mrs. Itasca Butler, 86, widow of the late O.D. Butler, died at the Masonic Home in Arlington, Texas Sunday. The body arrived in Laredo Monday night and the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Jackson Funeral Home with internment to be in the family plot at the City Cemetary. She was a native of Cotulla and came with her husband in 1922. Her husband was associated with Central Power and Light Co. For the past two years, she had resided at the Masonic Home. Survivors include one nephew, Orville P. Carr, of San Antonio.
