| The lineage of the García De Gonzalo goes back five centuries and its origin is Castilla and La Rioja. The genealogy is patronymic and the discovery of the ancestry of the family is the result of the research done by the Spanish Historian Don Pedro Francia, with the enthusiastic collaboration of the priest Don José Luis Moreno Dominguez in charged of the parishes of Arnedillo, Enciso and Munilla. They certify, that seen the records that exist in the archives of the Bishopric of Calahorra and La Calzada-Logroño originated in the ancient towns of Enciso, Munilla, Valdevigas, La Escurquilla, Garranzo, San Vicente de Munilla and Peroblasco, was found that the name García De Gonzalo goes back to XV century and possible much before. Don Justo García Turza Chancellor and Secretary General of the Diocese of Calahorra and La Calzada-Logroño certify the veracity of the research, where appear the name García De Gonzalo being contemporary to the Catholic Kings, Fernando and Isabel of Spain, and the discovery of America by Christobal Columbus. The first baptism certificate that is known of our ancestors belong to Pedro García De Gonzalo y Solana dated 1529, found in the first Book page 10 in the church San Pedro, built in Roman style during the 12th century in the city of Enciso. The father of this child was born before 1500. In this town of the VIII century was constructed a Castle of the Military Order of Calatrava. Beside, at a distance of 42 km from San Vicente de Munilla is located the Monastery of Suso, in San Millan de la Cogolla, place where the Castillian language was born. |
