In 1844 my ancestors arrived in New York from Belgium. The principals were my great great grandparents, Francis Coppens and his wife, Theresa Maria (maiden name De Smits). I know of at least two sons, Charles Lewis and Peter J., who accompanied them. They traveled through the Pennsylvania oil fields, stayed awhile and then arrived in Michigan in 1852. They ultimately had seven more children.

I have details on several later descendants (and spouses) which I have gathered that I will share with those with an interest. My purpose is to substantiate the data that I have already discovered over the years.
