*****
Marvin first left home from farm in Arkansas around the age of 21 because his dad would not let him have a 3 acre patch to raise cotton for himself. He worked for some other people. His dad came to see him before fall and asked him to come back home in the fall and run the machine and he would pay him. Marvin did. Soon after this they moved to Texas, a 3 week journey. Marvin came with them, bringing a team of horses with him that he had bought. Marvin rented some land himself near his dad around Forreston. Eddy and Alamay came down to work with him. He finally just sold out to Eddy and went to Kansas where he worked for some people by the name of Fork. At age 25 he came back to Texas where he met Emmie Tucker and married. At this time he rented a farm at Nash where Ivy Ruth was born. Then they moved to Waxahachie and he bought a cafe with Ben Whittaker (2nd Husband of Ella Shelton). They lived across the street (200 block of Dunn St.)from Emmie's grandmother (Ma Whittaker). This is where Garland and Arland were born.
