Preface
March 4, 1998
by Gordon L. Corbett

This is a work in progress !
In 1995 James Lee Corbett and I compiled a book titled Thirteen Generations of Descendants of Robert Corbett who died September 18, 1695 in Woodstock, Connecticut. The text was 472 pages long and the Index of 80 pages had 2750 descendants of Robert, and 2300 names of affiliated families.

Now we would like to publish a revised and expanded version of the book. We have found a number of missing cousins and made some important discoveries, such as the one linking the descendants of Elijah to Robert. Our plan is to publish the revision first on this site, in the hope that it will help us find more missing cousins. At some point we will publish a new hard bound version.

As noted in the Introduction from 1995 included below, Jim has been the lead person in data entry, and I have been the writer and layout person.

In September, 1997 I purchased the Family Tree Maker program and began transferring our data to it. I have produced a Genealogical report covering the first five generations, and it is included below. It contains the basic data, but does not have the sources, notes, or narratives included in the original book.

Anyone wanting source material may contact me by e-mail at:
<glcwpc@west.net>

I intend to add more generations as I complete the work. I hope to hear from people who are also descendants of Robert. There are many incomplete lines, and we would be delighted to find their descendants.
