Find Family

The first Halsey family reunion was held in July in Yosemite National Park in California. Twenty of us showed up from across the US. THERE ARE SOME PHOTOS OF ALL OF US in Yosemite!
The second one was in Gettysburg, PA. Time for another one soon!!

The mystery is finally solved! John M.C. Halsey - my great grandfather died at age 31 of thyphoid. His wife, May Isabel (Reinstein) born in eastern Pennsylvania -- near Chester, PA remarried several times. Please let me know if you have any additional information about these two and/or their ancestors. Especially about his name - what a name -- John Martinez Cardeza Halsey. Who names their child that unless there is a great reason??

The Hempsteads came over in 1640 to New London, CT with Governor Bradford's party. There are two "Hempstead Houses" still standing in New London. We've been to visit and attended a Hempstead family reunion. Lots of Hempstead history and information in the Historical Society, public library and the Joshua Hempstead Diary (currently in publication). Joshua and his son William (Hempstead) were Revolutionary War soldiers.
Alden and Sampson were pilgrims on the Mayflower that landed in Plymouth in 1620.
In recent research, the name Richardson came up - Emma Matilda (Richardson) married Samuel Finley Halsey. The Richardson's have a rich background in old Philadelphia. Their ancestors include two additional Revolutionary War soldiers -- Sutter and Bower. And, there is a rumor about William Richardson owning a coal company....
