I am seeking any information on any Cormack family from North Carolina.
Lewis CORMACK is first found on the 1800 Federal Census of Montgomery County, North Carolina. He was born in North Carolina in 1769, probably in Craven County.

By 1803, he and other brothers, moved into Stewart County, Tennessee. They appear on Tax Lists and Militia Rolls. In 1819, Lewis emigrated to Madison County, Illinois. There he joined the Canteen Creeek Baptist Church, through the 1830's. By 1820, the family settled in the area around present day Staunton, Illinois. In 1829, it was to become part of Macoupin Illinois. Here he raised his family. He was listed as one of the first voters in the county and was appointed judge of elections in 1829. He passed away in 1842 and was buried on a family plot, that has since disappeared.

Lewis and his wife Esther, had 11 children, 10 of whom lived into adulthood. Most married in Illinois. Surnames also being researched are RANDLE, WILCOX, RENFRO, DEES, TULK, POWERS, FOWLER, VANHOOSER, BROOKS, PRICE, CARRUTH, MCCALL.

Will gladly share information on these families of whom, remained in Tennessee and Illinois, or moved on into Arkansas.
