Aaron Kelly Aaron Kelly was born 1776, probably in Greenbrier County, (West) Virginia. In 1799 he and his brother Moses settled in the Cabin Creek District of Kanawha County and it was there that he met Frances Hudnall, the daughter of Joseph Hudnall and Mary Ann Taylor, who lived near Kelly’s Creek Road. On June 1, 1801 Aaron and Frances were married by Rev. Johnson, who was the Elder of Kanawha Baptist Church, possibly at Fort Morris. They had five children: Sarah b. 1805, Mary b. 5/1/1808, William b. 1809, Jesse b. 1810, Frances b. 1811. Frances Hudnall died sometime after the birth of her last child, possibly as a result of that birth. In the year 1812 Aaron married Keziah Smith. Sometime after 1812 Aaron moved to the Pocatalico District of Kanawha County, where his brother Moses had already located and married Katherine Aultz in 1807. The Aultz family lived on a farm located where the present Sissionville High School now sits. Aaron moved his family to Martin’s Branch in the Horseshoe bend of what is now known as Kelly’s Creek Road (there are two Kelly’s Creek Roads on opposite sides of the Kanawha Valley, one was named for Walter Kelly and the other was named for Aaron Kelly). Aaron and Keziah had three children: John b. January 1813, Hyram b. 1817, Lucinda b. 1824. Aaron Kelly died on Kelly’s Creek Road in 1855 and divided his land amongst his children and their heirs. Keziah died February 1880 at the ripe old age of 100. They are buried in the Goff /Mclanahan Cemetery.
