William Bailey William Bailey was born 1753 in Albemarle County, Virginia to Samuel Bailey. He enlisted as a soldier of the Revolutionary War in 1776 and served two years under Capt. Walker. In 1795 he married Sarah Sprouse of Albemarle County and came to Kanawha County with his cousins Isham & Henry Bailey. They were granted land lying in Cabell County on the Guyandotte but sold it around 1805. William settled on what is now Clay Bank Branch Road, off Doc Bailey Road in Cross Lanes, WV and reared a large family. Their children were: William Kiev b. 1810, Nancy b. 1798, Elizabeth b. 1802, Sarah b. 1803, Samuel b. 1805, James b. 1808, John b. 1811, Lucinda b. 1812, Reuben b. 1817, Martha b. 1813. William died March 1, 1837 and Sarah died July 17, 1851. They are buried in the Bailey Family Cemetery.
