Stancliff (surname of my maternal grandfather).

Thanks to Bob and Sherry Stancliff, this side of the family can be traced in an uninterrupted line to James Stanclift, who was born around 1638. Their excellent book is available for sale through their website.¹

Through the Stancliff line I am able to claim descent from the kings of England and France, from the emperors of Byzantium, from the czars of Russia and many other European royal and noble familes, including Charlemagne. For those interested, these lines can be traced through Mary Gye (on my Van Camp-Martin-Manning side) and Elizabeth Watts (on my Stanclift-Harris side).
