After she was deserted by Christopher (who had taken up with the widow of Hans Michael Schule), [Catherine] entered the Cloisters and took the name of Sister Esther. In defense of Christopher, it is said that Catherine and Christopher worshipped at the Cloisters, and then Catherine became very much under the influence of the sect, declaring to Christopher that they should live together as brother and sister. Perhaps this was why he found the widow Schule so attractive.
