Final Rites on Tuesday
The Rev. B.S. Kello Occupied Pulpits for 53 Years
Burial Made at Enfield
Served Various Churches in White County During his Active Years"

"After a lifetime of service that had endeared him to thousands, the Rev. Barton Stone Kello departed this life Augst 24 and was laid to rest in Enfield Cemetery after services at the Carmi Christian Church. He was 82 years, six months, and 20 days of age.

"Fro 53 years he had served as an active minister of the Gospel and even after his retirement three years ago, continued to be an important part in the lives of people in White County and was always available for service to the sick, for funerals and weddings."

"Born in White County"

"The Rev. Mr. Kello was born February 4, 1859, in White County and it was here that he spent most of his life. He was the youngest of 11 children of the Rev. Isaac and Mary E. Kello and was second in a line of four generations of preachers. His son, the Rev. H. C. Kello, and grandson, the Rev. Rice Kello, continue the Gospel work.

"He was married February 22, 1977, and the widow and three children survive, the Rev. H.C. Kello, Evansville; Mrs. Inez Lichner of the home; and Elmer Kello, Fairfield. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren and a large number of friends and more distant relatives."

"Most of Life in County"

"Most of his years in the pastorate were in White County and he served Enfield for 35 years. Included in his charge at various times during his life were Seven Mile (where he preached his first sermon and was ordained), Springerton, White Oak, Mt. Pleasant, Clay City, Jeff, Eldorado, Wayne City, and Ashland. On numerous occasions he has filled in at the Carmi Christian Church."

"Funeral Services"

"Last rites were held at the Carmi Christian Church Tuesday, August 26, with the Rev. Ransom DeLoss Brown officiating.

"Pallbearers were Roy Lechner, Virgil Lechner, Ralph Cutchin, Frank Cutchin, Neal Cutchin, Jr., and Rice Kello.

"Funeral arrangements were in charge of Walton and Stein."
