Dear Madam:
Reference is made to your letter in which you request the Revolutionary War record of Daniel Keppele, Copple or Kepple and of John Keppele.
Revolutionary War data furdnished by this office are obtained from claims made to the United Stated for pension and bounty land based on miltary service of soldiers in that war.
A search of the records fails to show such claims on file on account of the service of John Keppele, simlar spellings of the surname searched.
The record which follows is that of the Daniel Copple (surname searched inder various pellings), that is found on file in the Revolutionary War records of this office. The data given were obtained from the papers on file in pension claim S. 42656, based on his service in that war.
Daniel Copple enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sometime in June or July, 1776 and served as a private in Captain Daniel Burchardt's company in the German Battalion; he was in the battles of Trenton, Brandywine, Germantown, and Monmouth, and was discharged, July 2, 1779 at Little Britain, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, from the German Battalion.
Daniel Copple was allowed pension on his application executed April 30, 1818, then a resident of Adams County, Ohio. He was residing in said Adams County, Ohio in 1820 and gave his age as sixty-seven years, and referred to his wife, Catharine, aged sixty-five years, and were living with their son, whose name he did not give.
In order to obtain the dates of last payment of pension, the name and address to whom sent, and possibly the date of death of the pensioner, Daniel Copple, you should apply to The Comptroller General, General Accounting Office, Records Division Washington, D.C. citing all of the following data:
