I started my genealogy quest about 1960. My grandfather (Herman Ruce Cothran)told me that our Cothran name used to be Cowhorn and that we were black Irish and came to Kentucky from Georgia. Over the years I have found our name spelled Corhorn, Cochran, Cochron,Cockran, Cockron, Cauthron, Catherine, Cotheron, Cotherin, Cothern, Cothron, Cothram and the current spelling of Cothran which I first found dated 1859. The various spelling were used until about 1900 to 1910, when the current Cothran was settled on. The descendants of Eli Corhorn/Cochran/Cothran who migrated to Trigg Co. KY. from his birth state of Georgia are now scattered all over the country. The names that appear here, is my meager attempt to connect these families.
