Notes for James Wade Cothran: James Wade "Jim" Cothran was a tenant farmer for Squire Ahart. Jim and Ahart got into an arguement over the farming. Jim hit Ahart in the head with an ax. Jim thought he had killed Ahart. Jim took his wife and children and all that he could load into his wagon and left Trigg County that night. He disappeared, didn't have any contact with his family.
Years later, a traveling saleman saw Herman and Herbert Cothran at a store in Golden Pond, KY. The salesman told them that he knew a man in Indian Mound TN. that looked and talked like them. The salesman told them this a couple of different times. He then told them that the mans name was Jim Buzzard.
Herman and Herbert went to Indian Mound Tn. and found Jim Buzzard. Buzzard was their brother Jim. They told Jim that he hadn't killed Ahart and that there weren't any crininal charges pending against him. Herman and Herbart wanted Jim to return to Golden Pond, Jim refused.
Jim then changed his name back to Cothran but remained in Indian Mound. The families kept in contact for many years untill the older ones died.
