1. GILES² COTTON (PORCH¹) was born 1814 in South Coralina, and died Abt 1883 in Robertson County Texas. He married (1) MILEY. He married (2) RACHEL in Texas.

Notes
The Cotton's oral family history states that Giles Cotton's father was a white overseeaer on the Stroud plantation. This fact has not been confirmed. We do not know the name of Giles Cotton's mother. Her name may have been Mary. Giles Cotton had several daughters with the name Mary. The 1880 U.S. Census show Giles Cotton's parents were born in Georgia.

The Cotton's oral family history also states that Giles Cotton was raised by Limas and Dinah Kelly. The exact relationship of Limas and Dinah Kelly to Giles Cotton is unknown. Limas and Dinah Kelly were slaves on the Stroud plantation. Limas Kelly was born in Africa about 1762. He was listed in the 1870 U.S. Census of Robertson County Texas as a 108 year old male. He lived with a women by the name of Edna Lum. Edna may be his daughter. Limas Kelly was listed in the family just above Giles Cotton's family in this Census, indicating that Giles Cotton lived close to the old man.
