Heinrich Rudolph PLUGGE (son of Johann (John) Heinrich (Henry) PLUGGE) was born 13 Mar 1871 in Oldenburg, Germany, and died 25 Sep 1905 in Nr Cordova, Talbot County, Maryland.

My Grandmother (Heinrich wife) said that the young Germany
males would illegally get a card or pass, whatever was needed
to get the passenger ship to escape the Kis army in Germany.
After they arrived in New York, they had to go west, because
they were here illegally.
They apparently were married in Germany, as their 1st Son
Rudolph was born in Germany. Immigrated in 1872.
All of the Family when to Maryland in the early 1900's - except
Adolph.

On the SS Leipzip that left Bremen, Germany and arrived 20 July
1872 in Baltimore, Md. there is listed Johann Henrich Plugge
age 34, a Catherine Plugge age 23, a Johanne Plugge (perhaps
this is Rudolph) age 9 months, Heinrich age 60, who died on the
voyage, Gesine Plugge age 20, Whilhelmine Plugge age 17,
Heinrich Plugge age 9, and a Gesine Meyer age 19. There were
all from Germany and going to the United States.

After a few years in Nebraska, it was cold and life so hard,
that they
wanted to move. (At one time they lived in a mud or sod house
on the
side of a hill.) It just happened that a land agent from the
Eastern
Shore of Maryland was in Nebraska and had some land that they
liked;
so they moved family and belongings to Maryland in 1907; after
that
other members of the family moved to Maryland.
Was the first grave in the new cemetery.
