My distant ancestors originated from France to Quebec and from Finland to upper Michigan...this is how my family came to be.
My parents are Emmanuel COUTURE and Eleanore KAIPONEN of Michigan. My grandmother was born a MOILANEN.
I've been able to trace quite a bit of my father's father ancestry. I thank Robert Simoneau, Albert Riezebos, Diane Couture (in Quebec) very, very much for their generous help in providing information on my father's ancestry!
I am also pursuing ancestry data on my mother's side (KAIPONEN, MOILANEN and HUOVINEN names). Inkeri Kaiponen, Pirjo Skytten, Mikko, Lilja and Vainö Moilanen from Finland have helped me a great deal and I thank them very very much!

The Finnish flag features a blue cross on a white background. It takes two forms, the national (civil) flag and the state flag.
The flag with "the blue of our lakes and the white snow of our winters", as a poet described these symbolic colours in 1870, was made official in a law enacted on 29th May, 1918, less than six months after Finland had achieved independence. A new law entered into force in 1978.
