Mary Elmore Kellogg Cowart is researching the many families in the various branches of her family tree.

The Elmore branch from SC and AL: family of Gen. John Archer Elmore who lived in Autauga County, AL.

The Lewis branch from VA, GA, and AL: Family of Hamlin Freeman Lewis and his brother, Sen. Dixon Hall Lewis, of Loundesboro, AL. H.F. Lewis died on his way to Texas in 1852. His wife, sister-in-law, and their families moved to Old Waverly, Texas sometime after 1852.

The Hill branch from LA and TX: moved to Old Waverly, Texas in 1850s.

The Curtis branch from Stafford County, VA: moved to Walker County (near Martha's Chapel), Texas before the Civil War.

The Sterne branch from Stafford County, VA: also moved to Walker County (near Martha's Chapel), Texas before the Civil War.

The Kellogg branch from IL: moved to Huntsville, Texas in the late 1930s. Married into the Curtis branch.

The Cowart and Lawhon branch in east Texas: moved to Texas before 1900. Married into Kellogg branch.
