I became interested in my family tree after receiving information about my mother's ancestry and after hearing my aunt talk about Levi Bryant Jones, my g-g-grandfather from Paint Rock, Alabama. Since the Jones branch of the family had not been researched, I chose to get my feet wet by seeing what I could find out about GGGrandpa Jones. From there, it snowballed. I was able to gather quite a bit of information and soon these ancesters of mine began to come alive for me. I also met others online who shared a relative with me.

By gathering information from others who had researched difference branches of my family, I have been able to create quite a large picture. I am still in the process of entering all of the information into FTM.

I have also learned quite a bit throughout my how it feels to hit a "brick wall," and that a relative's memory doesn't agree with the 1860 census. But I've also learned that a small part of that memory along with a marriage record or a picture or a written accounting from the Civil War can tell a story about someone and make them come alive for me.

I am currently stuck in the Jones branch with Levi's father, Britton/Brittain Jones. I know that he was born in NC around 1790. But from there, I just don't know. I have become distracted with other branch of the family and gathering research from others to include in this family tree. If you have anything to share or add, I would welcome the information. And please feel free to use any of my research.
