My family research starts with Avington Cox born in NC about 1800.
No infomation has been found to date as to who his parents were.
The first census infomation for his family was found in the 1850
Carroll County Tn census, and listed as follows.

Avington Cox age 50 born in NC.
Rachel H age 59 born in NC.
Susannah Tabitha age 20 born in Tn.
John L age 19 born in Tn.
Francis Kissiah age 16 born in Tn.
Rebecca age 13 born in Tn,
Joshua age 6 born in Tn.

John Lemuel was my Great Grandfather, and I have most of the infomation on him and his 4 children on file.He married Rachel
Jane Pirtle ( daughter of Issac Newland Pirtle )on Sept 28,1854
in Farmington,St Francios County Missiouri.
We think the family moved to St Francios county Mo. soon after the 1850 was taken.
John L & Rachel Jane had 5 children all born in Missiouri.
Susan Rebecca born March 01,1856 in Jasper County.
William Thomas born in St Francios County, Sept 19,1858
James Robert born in St Francios County, Aug 21,1860
Stella born about 1863 and died about 1864.
John Jefferson born in St Francios County Jan 23,1866

John Lemuel Cox served in the Union Army during the Civil War.
He served in Company F 50th Regiment Missiouri Infantry.He was discharged in the spring of 1865,and soon after moved his family to Richview Ill where he farmed. This is where his children all attented school, grew up,and were married.

Susan Rebecca married James K (Polk) Pitchford March 07,1872.
William Thomas married Martha Ann Foster Oct 27, 1881.
James Robert married Lavina Russell Nov 02,1882.
John Jefferson married Ellen Russell Oct 15,1885.
These marriages all took place in Richview, Washington County, Illinois.

In the fall of 1887, John Lemuel and all four of his married children moved their entire families to Nebraska. They loaded all of their belongings, encluding all of their livestock and farm equipment on a train, and unloaded in Fullerton, Nebraska.
They wintered there and then located near Cedar Rapids, Nebraska in Boone county the next spring.
I wonder what was behind this move, as they left beautiful flat farm land to come to the hills of west Boone County ,Nebraska.
Susan Rebecca and James K ( Poke ) Pitchford had 12 children.

Ora Candance born Mar 29, 1880 in Richview ,Ill.married Clark Ellis Smith

John Elwood born Nov 16,1881 in Richview ,Ill. married Minnie Elba Wilson.
