Researching the COX family from Johnson CO, AR. and Young and Denton Counties in TX. Batson Whitehurst COX born in VA.1804 first appears in the 1837 Tax List Index for Arkansas Territory, in what is now Johnson CO. He married an unknown KING before 1835, and had one son Jasper N. COX who married Mary Ellen WOODWARD. The unknown KING, [daughter of Thomas KING] apparently dies and Batson marries Missouri HARMONSON COX in about Aug of 1835, daughter of Peter HARMONSON & Ann McGEE.
Batson is listed in some census as B.W. or Balsom; listed in service record as Batton/Batson COX.
This same Batson W. Cox may be, but not yet proven, listed in Warren Co TN as Batson W. COCKS per 1830 census, and Pope Co AR as Betson W. COCKS per 1835 Census.
Batson and Missouri have several more children:

Charles Peter Harmonson COX sp Margarette Isandra NICHOLAS 12. Olivia Ann sp Ruben C. REDDING.
