Researching the COX family from Johnson CO, AR. and Young and Denton Counties in TX.

Batson Whitehurst COX born in VA.1804 first appears in the 1837 Tax List Index for Arkansas Territory, in what is now Johnson CO.

He married (1) an unknown KING before 1835 who's father was Thomas KING, and had one son Jasper N. COX who married Mary Ellen WOODWARD. The unknown KING, apparently dies and Batson marries.....

Missouri HARMONSON COX (2) in about Aug of 1835, daughter of Peter HARMONSON & Ann McGEE.

Batson (not proven to this date) MAY BE listed in some census as:
Batson W. COCKS per 1830 census Warren Co. TN.
Betson W. COCKS per 1835 Pope Co AR census & tax records.

He IS listed as Batton/Batson COX in service records.

Batson and Missouri have several more children:

2. Harvey Staten who went to TX, killed by indians, buried
at FT. Belknap, TX.
3. Willian B., no additional information on

7. Columbus Jackson [Jack] SR. sp Mary Tennessee NICHOLAS,
2nd, Lucy Jane COPELAND, 3, Martha Jane JOHNSTON. (had 20 children many were born in TX.
8. Missouri A. died young
9. Elizabeth Jane or Martha Jane sp John W. ROWBOTHAM
10. Nancy E. disappeared
11. Charles Peter Harmonson COX sp Margarette Isandra NICHOLAS
12. Olivia Ann sp Ruben C. REDDING.
