| Hello! My name is Joan Marie Cox-Brown, but I go by Joni. I am an Alden descendant - John & Priscilla, Joseph, and so on.. After many twists and turns along the way, I wound up here in California. I was adopted in 1966, therefore, grafted into one family tree, yet, aparently I am still attached to the other one, as well! So my family's tree has many parts to it, as do most of yours, I am sure. I am starting to feel as though we really are all related! I saw my biological family name appear in my adoptive family's ancestory, so who knows. Maybe in the end its all the same! Both were Quakers. Here is what I have so far: My birth mother Suzanne Allen is a descendant of John Alden, through her mother, Loretta Hoon. They were Pilgrims, so I believe they were Quakers, as well. My adoptive father, Joseph A. Cox is a descendant of John Cox, the first John Cox (aparently) in the US. So his family is quite extensive - the Jehu Cox clan. They were originally Quakers, and later turned Mormon. They live all over the country. My husband's mother is an Alstadt from Germany, and they all had at least 8-12 children each for about 6 generations! So, that is a huge family, too. They are mostly Catholic, and were from the Minnesota area. My adoptive mother was Portuguese from Terceira in the Azore islands. The records are terrible for this one - the lack of info from my mother's family. I need to do more work on that one.
