I am researching and organizing information on the following familes: COX, PORTER, DAVIS, McEWEN, BAILEY, RAGLAND, BELL, WELLS and associated lines in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennesee, South Carolina etc.
I have a great deal of information on the PORTER, BELL, and McEWEN lines as well as RAGLAND, but I need more information on the COX, BAILEY and DAVIS lines (more on PORTER, BELL etc. wouldn't hurt!).
My BELL line, by the way, is directly connected through my PORTER's to the famous "BELL WITCH" of(Adams)Tennessee, and I have much documentation on this event. I want to see however, if there is a connection between my great-great-grandfather John Bell (d.1820 the one the "witch" did in!) and the "John Bell of Tennessee" who ran for president in 1860 against Abraham Lincoln.
My major interest at this time is to trace my COX line from Arkansas (Rufus Bell Cox, Floral, Independence County m Harriet Bailey) back to the East Coast and, of course, good ole Edgecombe County from whence, it would seem, most American families sprang.
I will, of course, glady share any and all information that I have however, be patient. I'm not that well organized right now!
