One of the decendants of Herman Lahr listed Hermans parents as Conrad Lahr and Albertina Pfeiffer (part of the Pfeiffer brewing company family). Also, I have Fred Lahr's Application for SS# where he lister his parents as Conrad Lahr and Albertina PFFER
Another Decendant of Fred Lahr told me that there was a Valentine Lahr (or similar) somewhere up the line. In the 1880 census, there is a "Valtine Lahr" married to "Albertine Lahr" in Monroe, Michigan (london twp page 464c). Valtines parents were from HASSE DARMSTADT, Germany. Albertines parents were from Bavaria. Their ages are consistant with the time frame required to parent the Lahr brood AND (big "and" here) they have a 1 year old daughter named Martha!!!!
It is my belief that the father's name was either Valtine Conrad Lahr or Conrad Valtine Lahr.
I looked further and Conrad Pfeiffer, who founded Pfeiffer Brewing company of Detroit Michigan. Was born in Germany in 1852. Both of his parents were from Germany (per the 1880 census). Albertine was Born in Michigan which means that if the two are related, the family must have moved to America between 1852 and 1860 (when Albertine was born).
