1. WILLIAM B.¹ CRAIN SR was born Abt. 1780 in North Carolina, and died Abt. 1845 in Newton County, Missouri. He married RACHAEL UNKNOWN. She was born Abt. 1780 in North Carolina, and died Abt. 1855 in Newton County, Missouri.

Notes for WILLIAM B. CRAIN SR:
William (B. or H.) CRAIN and Rachael (-) were born in NC, about 1780. Lived in Kentucky and Tennessee before moving to Stoddard County, MO prior to 1840. The couple and younger children appear on the 1840 Stoddard Co., MO Census. In the decade between 1840 and 1850, the family moved to Taylor Township, Greene Co. and Calloway on the James, they then moved to Newton County where William died. The family returned to Greene Co. to the same area they had lived in earlier. Then back to Newton County in time to appear on the 1850 Census. Source: A Reminiscent History of the Ozark Region.

Notes for RACHAEL UNKNOWN:
Two grandchildren, Hiram Harrison Crain and Kizziah Frances Crain are listed on the 1850 Federal Census as members of Rachael's household. She is listed as Head of Household. These children are believed to be two of the children of William and Alice (Ford) Crain who died in 1839 and 1840 in Stoddard County, that were raised by William and Rachael. The other was A. C.
