4. LUCINDA² CRAIN (WILLIAM B.¹ CRAIN SR) was born November 27, 1813 in Kentucky, and died September 10, 1849 in Stoddard County, Missouri. She married JOHN BEASLEY January 16, 1833 in Franklin County, Tennessee. He was born February 14, 1813 in Georgia, and died April 28, 1885 in Milburn, McCulloch County, Texas.

Lucinda Crain Beasley died September 10, 1849 in Stoddard County, MO from childbirth complications. The baby girl, named Loucinda, died a few days later. Source: 1850 Mortality Schedule

Notes for HIRAM H. CRAIN:
Hiram and Mary Crain were in Texas by 1848, as their oldest son, William H. Crain, was born in Texas. Hiram lived in Leon, McColloch, Burleson and Kendall counties. He was living in Kendall County in 1870, married to Susanah (age 36 b TN), with the following children; William, age 20, Renaldo, age 17, Mary age 12, Martha age 8, Noton age 3 and Anna age 2. All the children were born in Texas.

7. LEROY MCCRAVEN² CRAIN SR (WILLIAM B.¹) was born 1826 in Tennessee, and died Abt. 1865. He married (1) NANCY. She was born 1827 in Illinois, and died Abt. 1855. He married (2) SERENA APPLILINE ELLIOTT Abt. 1858, daughter of JOHN ELLIOTT and LUCINDA BRADLEY. She was born 1842 in Tennessee, and died 1883 in Eastland County, TX.

Notes for LEROY MCCRAVEN CRAIN SR:
On the 1850 Census of Newton County, MO, Leroy, age 24, is listed as married to Nancy (-) b. 1827 Illinois and the couple have two sons; William, age 2 and Francis, age 6 months.

On the 1860 Federal Census of Parker County, Texas, Leroy is listed as being married to A. Crain, age 19. William age 12 and Francis age 10, plus a male J. age 7 and female M. age 5 are with them. There is also a 1 year old girl, believed to be Mary Isabelle. There are no records of a divorce from Nancy, so it is assumed she died. We know A. Crain to be Serena Appiline Elliott CRAIN, who was born in TN in 1842, and who, along with her parents, John and Lucinda Elliott, was living in Newton County, MO in 1850. Leroy McCraven CRAIN Jr. was born on April 13, 1863 or 1864 in either TX or MO. Different records give conflicting data. Leroy Sr. is reported to have died of starvation and exposure in a Northern "Yankee" Prison during the Civil War. Two separate branches of the family who had no contact for almost 100 years repeated this oral history.
