1. MARTIN⁵ HOLLOWAY (ISAAC⁴, JOHN³, STEPHEN², ROBERT¹) was born March 26, 1833 in North Carolina, and died May 31, 1906 in Spicewood, Burnet County, Texas. He married MARGARET STAMPER April 11, 1852 in Ashe County, North Carolina, daughter of WILLIAM STAMPER and JANE BALDWIN. She was born September 25, 1833 in North Carolina, and died January 26, 1929 in Texas.

Notes for MARTIN HOLLOWAY:
Nine of Martin and Margaret Holloway's children were born in North Carolina. The youngest Benjamin, was born in Texas, after 1873. One Family legend says they traveled to Texas in a covered wagon, twice. After the first move, they returned to North Carolina, a six month trip, but eventually moved back to Texas permanently.

The other Family legend says that when they moved, the two elder children, Phoebe and Meredith stayed behind in Wilkes County, North Carolina with their new spouses. Phoebe had married James Harvey Blevins in 1872 and Meredith had married Susan Fanny Caudill on March 23, 1873. Reportedly, Martin returned twice on horseback to try to persuade the young couples to move to Texas also. Phoebe and Harvey did not, but Meredith and Susan eventually joined them.

Margaret lived to the age of 95 1/2.
