The Uncapher Family book states that Andrew was born in 1778 and in another place it states 1782. It goes on to state that Andrew died in 1826 at the age of 82. That would put his birth at 1744, four years before his father Philip. Something is amiss with this. Andrew was born in the Province of Virginia in the Parish of Shelburne, in what is now known as Loudoun County. Note the spelling change from UNGERFEHR to UNCAPHER.

The Uncapher family book states one place that Andrew was born in 1778 and in another place it states 1782. It goes on to state that Andrew died in 1826 at the age of 82. That wou ld put his birth at 1744, four years before his father Philip. Something is am iss with this.

Andrew was born in the Province of Virginia in the Parish of Shelburne, in what is now known as Loudoun County.

All descendants of Andrew Uncapher and Barbara Millen are eligible to all Revolutionary Societies.

Notes for HUGH MILLIN:
I thought he was a son of James and Mary Cunningham Millen but now think he may have been a son of Captain James and Anna Sherbly Millen because of his date of birth.

Source of emmigration according to John Millen of W. Virginia was that he landed in Philadelphia, PA in 1819.

On June 22, 1831, Hugh Millen, then of Armstrong County, PA, purchased 166 acres plus 100 perches of land in Jefferson County, for $165, from the Holland Land Company. This land was part of warrant #3029, which had been surveyed for the Holland Land Company in 1829, as part of tract of 990 acres. Hugh and Esther Millen are buried in the Beaver Run Cemetery in Rose Township, Jefferson County, PA.

Names seem to be interchanged as Millin/Millen.

Hannah J Craig used to take her two sons to visit Uncle Ward and Aunt Vira. I, Bob Craig, remember these visits quite well. Uncle Ward was quite handy with his hands. He made things like cutting an outline of a 1/4 moon and star out of wood, would finish the wood and the end product had a hanging stair steps which was handy for putting Nic-knacks on and hanging it on the wall. Mom had one of these sets. He also made corner Nic-Nack racks. They were about a foot and one half tall and were made to hang in a corner of a room. He also made figures out of wood and in some way would suspend them on string and had a sort of paddle he would sit on and was able to make the figures walk by tapping on the paddle. He also was able to take a plain ordinary carpenters saw and make music. He did this by using a bow somewhat lie a violin and by bending the saw was able to make music. Quite good at it. Vira also was handy with her hands and took cards, like Christmas cards, and fasten them together in a fan fashion and they were quite attractive. If my memory serves me right Uncle Ward had a huge ball of string. He saved string and would wind it on the ball. The girls come to mind as pleasant and rather full of giggles. We enjoyed visiting them in Heilwood several times.

Sad Fair well!

It is with a heavy heart I report the following information. Through the power of the internet I made a close friend. Likely closer than any I have had in the past 40 or so years. I never met my friend face to face but Bob and I have become as close as we were to our computers. Our chance meeting about two years ago was through our mutual interest in our family ancestry. Bob and I are remotely related by way of the Flemings, Holmes and Uncaphers to which Bob Haymaker is descendant. We helped each other as we worked through and learned the methods of research. Our links soon came to include his willingness to proof read many of my articles and Bible Studies posted on "The Craig Pages." As a way of thanks I created a Pappy's Page that lists some of his interests, photos and other interesting things.

November 2003 my computer began to give me problems. I needed to take it in for cleaning, repairs and upgrades then but due to Bob's poor health I delayed having it serviced until February 14, 2004. My machine simply would shut down after about 30 minutes of use and there was no choice. I had put it off only for the reason that by E-mail I wished to be there for Bob and we communicated back and forth over the days, weeks and months. I have never met another individual that had the health difficulties Bob had that held on so long. I drew personal strength from him and his often humourous messages and statements of courage. For me it was a learning experience and I am a better person today because of Robert Ray (Pappy) Haymaker's life.

Although we never met in person I know of no individual that I shall recognize better on the other side than that life of Pappy Haymaker. God bless you Bob. It won't be long until we both shall meet at the feet of our Lord.

My prayers to the family and especially ‘Granny' Haymaker. She stood faithfully at this side until relief came and Brother Bob's pain and suffering ended February 15, 2004. The following is the E-mail she sent on the 15th that I only received on February 25, 2004 – after I got my computer back and on-line:

I am the bearer of bad news today. Pappy passed into the Lord's arms at 4:20p.m. Feb 14, 2004. Took him to the hospital at 3:00 a.m. and he said this was the end. He just couldn't fight any longer. About 4p.m. he said, Mom, I can't go on anymore. This is the end. God's angel is here and so is the grim reaper. I am going with God's angel, goodbye, I love you. He laid his head on the pillow and that was the end. They tried to do CPR, but to no avail. At least now he is in peace, and not in pain. Please keep us in your prayers. Arrangements will be made tomorrow, so will let you know. Our kids from out of town will be coming in. I am so sorry to have to tell you this, but it is just a part of life. He will always be with us no matter where he is. God's blessing to both of you, Love & prayers, Vivian.

There are no words that will describe my personal pain at the loss of a friend and my ‘cyber buddy'. There have been so many times his humble wisdom has helped me when I've been in troubled water. He always kept his cool and had a word to the wise to offer on almost any subject. When I came across a question or was endeavoring to post a new idea or theory I always tried it on Brother Pappy first. I know he looks down on us know with that humor and a bit of a smile as we continue to try and be the best we can be. Always! Brother Pappy!

Here are 2 books that Bob wanted you to have. I think there is another but can't locate it. Will send it when I do.

Think I am starting to accept that he is gone physically, but will always be here in heart and mind as I've told our kids and grand-kids. Went to a memorial candle lighting service last week. That was a help to our youngest daughter and her husband also. She is the one who got married in January this year. The posting of February 26, 2004 of yours about Pappy's Passing on My Family [ http://www.myfamily.com/isapi.dll?c=content&htx=view&siteid=pijFAI&contentid=ZZZZZYSD&contentclass=NEWS ] was really nice. Enjoyed reading the other Emails too. Guess a lot of people felt the same about him. That picture was taken 13 years ago at our oldest daughter's wedding, February 12, 1991. He always liked to wear taht hat. Now it can't be found anywhere since last year. Don't know what happed to it. I never liked it. Even though you can't accept Emails, you can still keep in touch with everyone at MyFamily. Hope they never start getting the garbage that is out there. Well, better get this ready to mail.

Dear Vivian and Family

Hardly a day goes by that I don't think about, and yes, miss my Cyber Buddy, Pappy Haymaker. It was with much surprise yesterday that I received a box from Fed-X! After it was delivered I saw the address. With much anticipation and excitement I opened the box and sat down to read your letter and look at the books. I must admit . . . tears filled my eyes. I am so grateful. Two weeks ago I lost a very good neighbor. He died from the onslaught of gangerien in his leg. They had operated several times and never were able to get ahead of it and it finally took him from us. The very day the box arrived I wrote an article and posted it about how one has to be getting old when everyone loved has moved on to a much better place.

The E-mail problem I was having is now corrected to some degree. COX Communications has added to its service a Virus Scanning device which I now use. Just went on line and I received about 30 messages that were truncated because of virus infections. However, I now feel safe that everything I send is OK and everything I get has been scanned before I open it.

I pray for you all each day. The family circle is not broken. I have that oval photo pappy had up-loaded to MyFamily.com, and it is posted right above my computer. I know it will never be easy for any of you, much less me, to live life with out Brother Pappy. God bless each of you. Thank you so much for the Atlas and Concordance you sent.
